Young guides of school military-historical museums of the Vitebsk region will compete in professional skills
May 4, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotov - BELTA /. Young guides of school museums of a military-historical profile will compete for the first time in professional skills at the regional competition dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory. The event will be held on May 11-12 at the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Hero of the Soviet Union Minay Shmyrev, the regional association for extracurricular activities with children and adolescents informed a BELTA correspondent.
A total of over 60 schoolchildren took part in the competition, presenting their own developed excursion programs for museums and museum rooms of educational institutions to the jury. The jury, which included specialists in museum work, the education department of the regional executive committee, and the regional branch of the NGO "Belarusian Peace Foundation," selected 16 finalists. During the two-day excursion marathon, they will not only present their school museums but also demonstrate their knowledge of the Great Patriotic War history, erudition, creative thinking, and ability to work with an audience, including using interactive and game technologies.
The competition program includes three stages. At the first stage, participants will present a virtual tour of their museum. The second task will be a creative assignment: the children will be asked to create an excursion on the history of the partisan movement in the Vitebsk region based on a set of museum items and exhibits. The competition program will conclude with a quiz on knowledge of museum items, which usually form the basis of a military-historical museum exhibition.
Winners and prize-winners will be awarded valuable gifts and prizes. The Vitebsk regional branch of the NGO "Belarusian Peace Foundation" has already prepared a grand prize for all finalists of the regional competition. After the event, all finalists will go on an excursion to the historical and cultural complex "Line of Stalin."
The main goals of the competition are to improve the level of excursion and propaganda activities of school museums, develop the professional skills and creative abilities of young guides, popularize school museums, and generalize best practices in this area.
There are 195 museums in educational institutions in the Vitebsk region, of which more than 100 have military-historical exhibitions.
The organizers of the regional competition of young guides are the education department of the regional executive committee, the regional association for extracurricular activities with children and adolescents, the regional museum of Hero of the Soviet Union M. Shmyrev, and the regional branch of the NGO "Belarusian Peace Foundation." -0-
