May 15, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. More than 150 high school students are taking part in the regional scientific and practical conference of schoolchildren "Eureka," which is being held today at the Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the head of the research sector of VSU, Alexander Dedinkin. The university has gathered the best of the best young researchers who passed a competitive selection based on the results of the Days of Science in schools and gymnasiums, at city and district conferences. In total, about 600 research papers and scientific reports by schoolchildren were submitted for participation in this first scientific forum, and based on the evaluation of the schoolchildren's first steps in science, the VSU expert commission determined the list of participants for the regional event. The conference is working in 9 sections, including Russian and Belarusian philology, ecology and geography, biology and chemistry, physics and mathematics. The students will present their research, and a collection of works will be published following the forum. For many schoolchildren, this will be the first publication of their scientific works. In addition, the authors of the best works will have the right to represent the region at the republican scientific conference. The main objectives of the conference are to attract students to research, creative, and project activities in various educational fields, to develop creative work skills, and the ability to independently set and solve research problems. In addition, holding such events allows for the activation of schoolchildren's intellectual initiative and creates conditions for public recognition of the research work results of the younger generation, noted Alexander Dedinkin. The organizers of the conference are the education department of the regional executive committee, the regional institute for the development of education, and the Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov. -0-
