Young pianists from Vitebsk won prizes at an international competition in Latvia
At the IV International Competition of Young Pianists named after Ya. Norvil, which brought together talented children and youth from Latvia, Estonia, Germany, and Belarus from January 16-18, students of the Vitebsk Children's Art School named after A.V. Bogatyrev performed brilliantly.
From the Latvian city of Madona, where the musical event dedicated to popularizing the intonational originality of folk melodies in academic genres of piano music took place, the duet of Viktor Stefanenko and Anastasia Petushkova returned home with the laureate title. The students performed as a duet for the first time, preparing M. Moszkowski's "Spanish Dance" and "Dark Eyes" in G. Balaev's concert arrangement for the competition program. This piano ensemble was awarded first place, as well as prizes from the alternative jury and music school teachers. The duet of Eva and Nicole Rogatnikov, who performed F. Chopin's "Sylphides" and the Russian folk song "Oh, you, little night" in an arrangement, won second place in the international competition in Madona. The laureates of the ensembles have one teacher - Elena Yeshchenko.
This is not the first international competition for the young pianists; many gifted students of the Children's Art School named after A.V. Bogatyrev have successfully performed in Russia, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine.
