Young artists from the CIS became participants of the Summer School at the Ilya Repin Museum-Estate in Zdravnevo

August 5, Vitebsk region / Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Young artists from ten CIS countries became participants of the Summer School at the Ilya Repin Museum-Estate in Zdravnevo. The opening of the international plein air took place today, on the day of the 165th anniversary of the Russian artist, according to a BELTA correspondent. For a week, the children will be painting landscapes that once inspired Ilya Repin: in 1892-1901, he painted "Belarusian," "Moonlit Night," "The Duel," "In the Sun," and others in Zdravnevo. Master classes for young artists were given by academicians and professors from academies of arts and fine arts from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine. "Such international plein airs are valuable because they contribute to maintaining artistic connections between different national schools," said Mikhail Borozna, Vice-Rector of the Belarusian Academy of Arts and Professor, at a roundtable discussion on the problems of art education. He regretted that national academies of arts had lost the contacts established during the Soviet era. "Now is the time to revive the good traditions of business and creative meetings," emphasized Mikhail Borozna. The Belarusian professor was supported by Vasily Nesterenko, People's Artist of Russia and Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts: "We are suffocating from the lack of communication with each other." Representatives of national academies of arts and fine arts decided to propose that their art universities resume the practice of inviting foreign academic artists to defend the diploma projects of young authors. In addition, the participants of the roundtable signed a collective appeal to the governments of their countries to include representatives of art education in the delegations for the upcoming IV Forum of the Creative Intelligentsia of the CIS countries, which will be held in mid-September this year in Chisinau. The children's international plein air and the meeting of representatives of academies of fine arts and arts were held with the support of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States. "This is a research project that will contribute to the mutual enrichment of cultures and will find further continuation," is confident Tatyana Bubnova, Acting Executive Director of the Fund. The Ilya Repin Museum-Estate "Zdravnevo," a branch of the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore, also received three copies of works by the famous Russian artist as a gift from the Russian Federation and the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States today. Ilya Repin purchased the "Zdravnevo" estate, 16 km from Vitebsk, in 1892. He was heavily involved in its improvement. The main manor house was rebuilt according to his designs. The museum in the former estate was created in 1988. Among the most valuable exhibits currently held in the collections of the regional museum of local lore are Repin's watercolors and drawings, icons painted for the local church, original photographs, letters, and books.-0-
