Young Polotsk residents will be awarded cyclist certificates

The "Safety for Life!" project is being implemented in the Polotsk district. As reported to the BELTA correspondent by the Polotsk District Executive Committee, the final stage of the project will be the awarding of bicycle driver's licenses to young Polotsk residents on June 1.

Participants in the project included students of general secondary education institutions in the city of Polotsk and the Polotsk district, aged 14 to 18, who own bicycles. To obtain a license, cyclists had to complete two stages: training and examination. The first stage took place from May 12 to 24. Databases were created in educational institutions. Cyclists included in these databases studied traffic rules and safety basics, and then participated in practical sessions, the main goal of which was to acquire cycling skills taking into account road signs. The second stage took place on May 26 and 27: students took an exam on traffic rules and the basics of cyclist safety.

On June 1, on Freedom Square in Polotsk, as part of the "Polotsk - a City Friendly to Children" festival, the "Safety for Life!" area will be set up, featuring demonstration performances by young cyclists. Afterwards, employees of the State Automobile Inspectorate will issue special licenses to project participants who have successfully passed the exams.

The main goals of the "Safety for Life!" project are the prevention of child road traffic injuries, the education of law-abiding road users, drawing the attention of state and public organizations to the problem of child road traffic injuries, and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.

The project was organized by the Department of Education, Sports and Tourism of the Polotsk District Executive Committee and the inter-district traffic police department for servicing the cities of Polotsk, Novopolotsk, and the Polotsk district of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
