Each State Nature Reserve has its own unique feature. For example, within the territory of the "Osvyeysky" reserve, 16 species of plants and 43 species of animals (including 40 species of birds) listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus have been identified. Lake Osvyeyskoye is the second largest lake in Belarus and is popularly called the "Northern Pearl". Since 1998, the reserve has had the international status of an "Important Bird Area", and since 2002, it has been a "Ramsar Site" of international importance.
