By the storage season, three modern potato and vegetable storage facilities will be commissioned in the region
A modern potato storage facility with a capacity of 4 thousand tons will be commissioned at OJSC "Kushliki" in the Polotsk district by November 1st.
The construction work at the facility is over 80% complete, with the main part of the construction finished and equipment being installed.
The potato storage facility is a production complex with rooms for storing and sorting tubers, a boiler room, and a transformer substation. Potatoes will be stored in several chambers in bulk and in containers. The microclimate system will allow tubers to be preserved until the new harvest and sold year-round.
The storage facility will be equipped with modern lines for loading, sorting, washing, and packaging tubers. The entire pre-sale preparation cycle will be carried out here. In the future, OJSC "Kushliki" also plans to establish primary potato processing.
In total, three modern storage facilities for potatoes and vegetables will be commissioned in the region for the storage season, as reported by the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Regional Executive Committee. New facilities will also be launched at the Tolochin Cannery and at the "Varmas" farm (Vitebsk district). The potato storage facility at the cannery is designed for the largest volumes, capable of storing about 24 thousand tons of tubers until the new harvest. The construction of a universal storage facility designed for 7-8 thousand tons of potatoes and vegetables is being completed at the farm.
"Agricultural organizations where storage facilities are being built are the base for potato cultivation. Optimal conditions for crop preservation will be created here," noted the Regional Agricultural Production Department.
