A computed tomography room has been opened at the Vitebsk Regional Hospital
A new X-ray computed tomography scanner of Japanese production was opened today at the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital.
Chief physician of the regional hospital Yevgeny Matusevich noted that the new equipment has much higher accuracy, and the image allows seeing the smallest details. The range of clinical applications of the device will also be expanded.
"The new equipment will allow us to diagnose not only patients with COVID-19 but also, considering that we are increasing the volume of planned medical care, we will also provide assistance to patients with cardiosurgical, neurological, and traumatological profiles. Other diseases have not disappeared either," the chief physician noted.
In total, there are 15 CT scanners in the Vitebsk region, 9 of which are located in medical institutions in Vitebsk. By the end of the year, another unit will appear in the Glubokoye Central District Hospital. "Everyone was eagerly awaiting the launch of the new CT scanner. About Br2 million was invested in the equipment and its installation. The state pays great attention to updating the material and technical base of healthcare. We also understand that the regional hospital needs reconstruction. I think that after the Vitebsk City Central Hospital is commissioned in 2022, the regional hospital will be the next healthcare institution we will start renovating," said Vladimir Penin, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee. He thanked the medical workers for their work and wished them health and well-being.
Mikhail Vishnevetsky, Head of the Main Department for Healthcare of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, noted that three computer tomographs were installed in the region's medical institutions this year. The World Bank allocated funds for this under the COVID-19 Response Project in Belarus. "The builders tried to make the facility in the regional hospital of high quality, it is modern, comfortable, and very much needed today," added Mikhail Vishnevetsky.
