The quality of medical care must meet people's expectations - Nikolai Sherstnev

The authorities must address the issue of improving the quality of healthcare in close cooperation with healthcare professionals. This was noted by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, who took part in the meeting of the collegium of the regional executive committee's healthcare department.

The collegium was held on the eve of Medical Worker's Day (celebrated on June 18) and began with congratulations, awarding of certificates, commendations, and other prizes. Nikolai Sherstnev noted that patients always give the main assessment of the work of medical professionals. "Much has been done in the healthcare sector, but not everything yet. Somewhere professionalism is lacking, somewhere we are technologically lagging. There are many objective reasons. And the task of the authorities, by joining forces with professionals in their field, medical specialists, is to eliminate shortcomings as quickly as possible, to raise the quality of medical care to the level that our people want to see," said the head of the region.

"You are doing a great job. And for that, thank you very much," said the governor. Nikolai Sherstnev expressed special words of gratitude to the head of the healthcare department, Yuri Derkach. "The personality of the leader is always very important. To a large extent, the achievements of the region's medicine are due to the head of the department," added the chairman of the regional executive committee.

Congratulations from the Minister of Health, Valery Malashko, to Vitebsk medical professionals were conveyed by the Deputy Minister, Natalia Zhukova, who was present at the collegium. Awards from the ministry, the regional executive committee, the healthcare department, the trade union, Vitebsk State Medical University, etc., were presented to the region's medical workers.
