Personnel day with the chairman of the regional executive committee. There are reserves!
In each sector of the economy, a leader is needed – a true "Master", especially in agriculture. A good master is not afraid of winter cold: livestock are well-fed, cows are healthy and give birth annually, young animal weight gain is enviable, and barns are filled to the brim. This should be the case in every farm where the director does not deal with putting out "burning issues" but builds their own enterprise development strategy, thanks to which the growth of indicators is obvious.
The Director of KUSKhP "Lepelskoe", Roman Misnik, sowed winter rapeseed and came out a winner. This crop is an early, high-protein feed for the dairy herd. For the farm, such an approach is only a plus. The money received from the sale of seeds can be directed towards construction work by the farm's own efforts. Ultimately, a robotic farm should be operational at "Lepelskoe". While its readiness is only 40% and it will not be included in the investment program for next year, there is potential, so the remaining premises on the farm are filled with livestock to capacity.
This time, the personnel day was underscored by the theme of livestock wintering conditions and herd growth. The Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, sees levers for finding reserves for economic recovery in every enterprise, paying attention to calf rearing conditions and increasing cattle density per hectare of agricultural land. The Director of OJSC "Gigant-Agro" in Dubrovensky District, Petr Zharikov, underwent approval for the extension of his labor contract. His farm is exemplary both in grain yield (increased from 43 to 58 centners per hectare per year) and in the growth of crop production output per hectare of arable land (from 56.8 to 62.5 centners of feed units). However, cattle density needs to be increased, and average daily weight gains are not impressive. The task for everyone is the same: a calf is born – it must be nurtured so that it grows stronger every day.
Alexander Koltunov has been managing the "Goryany-Agro" farm in Polotsk District for 19 years. Cattle density here is 100 heads per 100 hectares of agricultural land. The average milk yield for this year will be 7100 kg per cow. These results satisfy the regional leadership. But what's next? It is impossible to stand still. What are the prospects? The director sees them in the development of beef cattle breeding. Nikolai Sherstnev supports the manager's initiative. Moreover, "Goryany-Agro" is a branch of OJSC "Polotsk Grain Processing Plant," and within the integration structure, the farm is entitled to assistance. It is necessary to install three to five arched structures or tents, take cows from unpromising farms and raise calves for meat, and equip a new site for raising Hereford cows. Meat will have huge demand in any market.
New managers need to have a clear understanding of what needs to be done to fundamentally change the situation in the economy. This was discussed with the directors of KSHP "DrozdYAgro" of Beshenkovichi district Alexey Doylin, OJSC "Lezhni" of Shumilino district Alexander Papino, OJSC "Vozrozhdenie" of Vitebsk district Oleg Lazovsky. The first recommendation from the chairman of the regional executive committee is to reduce the cost of production; a reserve can be found in each cost item. The effectiveness of a manager's work is formed by the ability to work with people, knowledge of the capabilities and workloads of each specialist and employee. Oleg Lazovsky has been set a difficult task: to revive the former glory of "Vozrozhdenie". Low milk marketability indicates cow diseases. They need not just to be treated, but to carry out preventive measures so that livestock get sick as little as possible. - Your reserve is in the dairy herd, - emphasized Nikolay Nikolayevich. And he demanded that the district leadership provide the young director with the necessary assistance.
A conversation about the reserves of rapeseed cultivation was held with the director of OJSC "Sennensky RayAgroService" Iosif Svistunov. What are the reasons for its low yield? If the entire technological chain is observed, the yield of winter rapeseed can be 60 centners per hectare! Thanks to this crop, the farm can generate income all year round. In a word, rapeseed is our gold mine. Farms in Sennensky district must honorably pass the upcoming exam, because in the autumn the regional "Dazhynki" will be held in the district, which means that the results of work should be exemplary.
Along with the heads of organizations, the heads of economic services of the departments for agriculture and food of the district executive committees are invited to the interview with the chairman of the regional executive committee. The economic service is tasked today with working with each organization in the district, identifying all possible reserves, and assisting in their implementation.
