How the patriot from Vitebsk, who asked Lukashenko to establish Father's Day, voted

Как голосовала патриотка из Витебска, попросившая Лукашенко учредить День отца
The selection of candidates for deputies should not be a mere formality, but a conscious choice for active, intelligent individuals, professionals in their field, who have the intention and capability to bring the ideas and proposals of the people to life. This opinion was shared by patriot Anna Kozlova from Vitebsk, who asked the Head of State to establish a Father's Day. We met with her at polling station No. 19 in the Sosnovsky rural club of Vitebsk district, which has been bustling since early morning. Considering Sosnovka and neighboring villages, there are over 670 voters here. Of these, 32 percent voted early.

The newspaper "SB. Belarus Today" wrote about the Vitebsk resident who, during the President's annual Address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly, approached the open microphone and asked for a new holiday to be established, in October 2022. In Sosnovka, Anya's entire family came to support her mother, Inna Vladimirovna.

Our family has a very active civic stance, shares Anna:

— My husband (Pavel Erashov, a lecturer at Vitebsk Medical University) and my father and I voted early in Vitebsk. My mother, however, has recently registered in the village. So, we decided that on February 25th, we would all visit the polling station together.

Why is it so important to come to the elections? For Anna, it is obvious:

— To have your opinion heard, you need to do something yourself. For example, cast your vote for worthy candidates who have the resources to turn people's ideas into amendments, possibly new draft laws. Rational proposals "from the grassroots" will not go unnoticed. Father's Day in the calendar of Belarusian holidays is my personal example that anything is possible if you wish.

At the current elections, the Kozlov family has a new, very touching tradition. At one time, Inna Vladimirovna had to vote while on bed rest in one of Vitebsk's maternity hospitals. Now, Anya has come to the polling station with a baby on the way, smiling, and sharing her innermost thoughts, her mother says:

— I think our voting experience back then clearly had a positive impact on Anya. We are proud that our daughter has grown up to be principled, responsible, and a true patriot of Belarus!

Inna Kozlova and her husband Dmitry have been living in Gorodnyany for three years, and she commutes 12 kilometers to work in the regional center. Inna Vladimirovna is voting for the first time at the rural polling station, and her impressions are very pleasant: everything is clear, conveniently organized. And the thought of "sitting it out" at home never crossed her mind, Inna Kozlova continues:

— I perfectly understand that ultimately we are voting for our country — for its development, prosperity, and peaceful skies.

Many years have passed since the Great Patriotic War, and some have begun to forget how important it is, the head of the family, Dmitry Kozlov, joins the conversation:

— Knowing that I support our President, a good acquaintance even stopped greeting me in 2020. Now he seems to have a veil over his eyes, meaning the white-red-white propaganda has fallen from his eyes: "Thank you, Lukashenko, for being able to retain power, preserving the country and preventing a second Ukraine." I believe that the single voting day for the Parliament and local Councils of Deputies is both a significant financial saving for the state and, no less importantly, a reduction in the risks of political upheavals that are unnecessary for both the country and the people.

As entrepreneurs, the Kozlovs are used to carefully weighing all risks. Therefore, their focus when choosing candidates is on their program. It should not be detached from reality, Dmitry Kozlov reasons:

— Returning to 2020, when certain politicians proposed to give "to each according to their needs," we, people of business, well understood that these were sweet but unfulfillable promises. And the task of the people's elected representative is to help people and the country not in words, but in deeds.

Voting in Sosnovka is quite active, summarized the chairman of the local territorial election commission Irina Mikhailova, who is also the head of the club:

— For many, it is important to come to the polling station on the day of the unified voting. Because today, more than ever, there is a strong sense of involvement of each of us in a significant political event for Belarus, and also a holiday. I can't speak for everyone, but for me personally, elections have been associated with solemnity, good mood, and, of course, the opportunity to be with my country and people since childhood, by voting for candidates who will help make our tomorrow better.

At the Sosnovsky rural club, they tried to create the most positive atmosphere for the elections. Trade, an exhibition-sale of souvenirs, and, of course, a festive concert – all this is for those who came to the polling station on February 25.
