How to use the resources of the Vitebskvodtrans branch to increase the production volume of river sand? Head of the region Nikolai Sherstnev got acquainted with the enterprise's capabilities

Как использовать ресурсы филиала «Витебскводтранс» для наращивания объемов производства речного песка? Глава области Николай Шерстнёв ознакомился с возможностями предприятия
The Vitebskvodtrans branch of the Republican Unitary Enterprise for Operation and Construction "Dnieper-Bug Waterway" was visited today by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, and his deputy, Vladimir Belous.

During the meeting at the river port, the branch manager Anatoly Leonov demonstrated to the leaders the ongoing processes of warehousing, sorting, and shipping sand, repairing and modernizing watercraft, the operation of special equipment, and acquainted them with the enterprise's economy. A discussion of a number of pressing issues took place. They concerned increasing the enterprise's net profit, although for nine months of the current year the team (one hundred people) increased this indicator to 676 thousand rubles, as well as increasing the production volumes of river sand (sales increased by 162 percent in nine months of 2020 compared to the same period last year).

Currently, the Vitebskvodtrans branch extracts about 40 thousand tons of sand monthly; this year, it is planned to sell 500 thousand tons of sand to clients. The enterprise has over 150 clients, including Vitebsk's OAO "Keramika," "DSK," "Stroitelny trest №9," Minsk's "Keramin," and others.

In Vitebsk, the problem of natural sand extraction may soon become relevant, as the existing quarries in the nearby districts will be depleted. The construction and launch of new ones will take from one to one and a half years, and moreover, there are practically no natural sand reserves within a 20-30 kilometer radius of Vitebsk.

According to forecasts, in the next one to two years, there is a need to increase the extraction of river sand, the most important "ingredient" for the construction industry, by 200 thousand tons.

As noted by Anatoly Leonov, head of the Vitebskvodtrans branch, the enterprise has both technical and human resources potential for increasing production volumes.
