Vitebsk region has been cooperating with Heilongjiang Province of the PRC for a long time, and sister city agreements have been concluded between it and Polotsk, Novopolotsk, and Vitebsk. China is interested in our products such as flax, linen fabric, and linen clothing. Heilongjiang Province, like Vitebsk region, participates in the implementation of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, so logistics issues are relevant for both regions. In particular, Vitebsk region is interested in cooperation in the logistics of goods transportation. The opening of new terminals in the "Bremno-Orsha" special economic zone is possible.
– In June, our delegation will take part in the International Trade and Economic Exhibition in Harbin, – shared her plans, Deputy Chairperson of the Regional Executive Committee Anzhelika Nikitina. – Based on our sister-city relationships, we expect to find common ground not only in terms of selling flax fiber and building logistics chains, but also in terms of supplying our high-quality food products – canned meat and dairy products, wood products: MDF boards, products made from them, and lumber. The development of our ties is evidenced by the fact that last year exports to the PRC increased 2.5 times, and this year – almost 3 times. It is clearly visible that our products are in demand in China, and we have huge potential there.
The forum became a platform for concluding direct contracts between enterprises. The signing of six cooperation agreements is also planned. Among the new business partners of the enterprises of the Vitebsk region, along with representatives of the PRC, are actively the administrations of regions and cities of the Russian Federation.
