How to increase tourist flow in the region? The regional administration studied the issue based on the experience of Glubokoye
This was stated by Oleg Morkhat, Chairman of the Gluboksky District Executive Committee, to the participants of the regional seminar, noting the rich tourist potential and the hospitality of the residents of the lake region.
In addition, this was facilitated by the modernization of OJSC "Gluboksky Meat Processing Plant", OJSC "Gluboksky MCC", and the capital repair and reconstruction of many administrative, cultural, and social buildings.
Twelve multi-story residential buildings were erected in the city on Severnaya Street, a kindergarten was built, along with a number of other facilities. Huge funds were spent on the improvement of parks, squares, and asphalting of streets.
Improvement
According to Nikolai Sherstnev, Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, the preparation and holding of the Day of Belarusian Written Language in 2012 served as an impetus for the development of the district. In the following years, work on tidying up the land and improving settlements continued, and the colorful "Cherry Festival", which recently received international status, appeared.
– Glubokye residents strive every year to make their region even richer and more beautiful, to improve and maintain in excellent condition what was created earlier, – noted Nikolai Nikolaevich. – Local residents actively participate in solving many important issues, including those related to the improvement of the district center.
Five years ago, Glubokoye, along with Gomel, Lida, and Mozyr, won the republican review-competition for sanitary condition and improvement of populated areas. Later, the "Brigantina" playground, located near Lake Kagalnoye, was named the best among similar recreation areas in the country.
In the autumn of last year, Glubokoye district was the first in the republican review-competition "High-culture land use, improvement of machine yards, livestock farms, and complexes."
Participants of the seminar in Victory Park laid flowers and wreaths at the monument erected on the mass grave of Soviet soldiers and partisans who died during the liberation of Glubokoye in July 1944, and visited the square of famous countrymen.
They also inspected the memorial sign "Dedication to the Book," erected on the Day of Belarusian Written Language, and several monumental and decorative sculptures, for example, the composition "Family" on the central square of the city. They did not overlook the decorative and artistic composition called "Friendship of Peoples," the grand opening of which took place last year as part of the anniversary "Cherry Festival."
Entrepreneurship
Hundreds of individual entrepreneurs are registered in the district, as well as many private unitary enterprises. They also provide feasible assistance in improving the district center and are active participants in the annual campaign "Gift to the City."
According to Nikolai Sherstnev, there are different categories of entrepreneurs. Some expect help from outside, while others literally create unique objects out of nothing, relying primarily on their own strength. A prime example of this in Glubokoye is the private enterprise "V Azhure," whose forged products are in demand, and the agro-ecotourism estate "U Yakimovich," which provides a wide range of services.
– District authorities must be the initiators of private business development in their regions, – emphasized Nikolay Sherstnev. – Therefore, it is important today to combine the desires of entrepreneurs and the capabilities of the authorities. Thanks to this, new facilities will appear in the districts, including those for recreation and leisure. This also guarantees the creation of new jobs and budget replenishment.
For example, in Glubokoye in recent years, private hotels, guesthouses, and agro-estates of amazing beauty have appeared, which are practically never empty. New shops are opening.
Nikolay Nikolayevich noted that the task of the regional seminar was for district heads to familiarize themselves with the experience of their colleagues and adopt something for the successful development of their region.
– Every large and small district center should have modern kindergartens, schools, sports halls, stadiums, swimming pools, hotels, and retail outlets, – Nikolay Sherstnev summed up. – Optimal solutions should be sought to create comfortable conditions for local residents and guests.
