How is the preparation for the new academic year going in the Vitebsk region and on what criteria will scholarships be awarded to athletes
The Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, Vladimir Terentyev, emphasized that these issues were not raised for discussion for no reason. The presidential elections will be held on August 9. And considering that most of the 750 polling stations created in the region are located in schools, special impetus must be given to the preparation for the new academic year, and all construction work must be completed by this time: roofs, facades must be repaired, utility networks and windows must be replaced. And this is taking into account the consideration of all aspects related to children's recreation in school camps.
The head of the main department for education of the regional executive committee, Dmitry Khoma, informed that if previously 17, 27 and 9 million rubles were allocated for capital repairs, current repairs and organization of the educational process, respectively, now the funding for preparation for the new academic year has been halved. But, as they say, every cloud has a silver lining. Due to the coronavirus infection in March-April, children's attendance decreased, and food expenses were also lower. So, the saved funds will be redirected to repair work, which will partially compensate for the missing amount. District executive committees must also provide all possible support to educational institutions, help and facilitate quality repairs and preparation of facilities for the new academic year, in order to eliminate the slightest shortcomings that could affect children's health.
Deputies of all levels will not stand aside from this important cause, as emphasized by the chairman of the commission, Galina Zhelanova. It has become a tradition to participate in the "Let's get children to school" campaign, provide financial assistance to large families, and support those parents who lost their jobs during the pandemic.
Reference "VV". 9.7 thousand students will need to be transported to their places of study by 283 buses. The region's schools will be replenished with 550 young specialists.
There is only one criterion – the result
Regarding the issue of scholarships, there are 100 athletes in our region who receive financial support.
– We have always provided financial assistance to talented athletes, allocating considerable sums from the budget for this purpose, – emphasized Vladimir Terentyev. – We need to determine the criteria by which assistance is granted. The most important ones are results at the international, European, and world levels, and participation in the Olympics. The Head of State has emphasized that one must first show results and then receive bonuses. We will also proceed from this principle when providing financial support to the best athletes.
