How medics on the front lines of the fight against COVID-19 will be supported in the Vitebsk region
Thus, more than 2.3 million rubles will be allocated from the republican budget for measures to prevent the import and spread of the infection caused by the coronavirus COVID-19, including over 143 thousand rubles as an intergovernmental transfer to the consolidated budget of the Vitebsk region. This decision is enshrined in Resolution No. 163 of the Council of Ministers of March 21, 2020.
Local communities have also not remained indifferent. For example, the Vitebsk regional branch of the Belarusian Peace Foundation will donate 3,000 rubles to the regional infectious disease hospital, which will be used to purchase personal protective equipment for healthcare workers.
– As part of the implementation of our key programs "Memory" and "Care" and events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory, we are directing the main part of the funds raised this year to the improvement of places associated with immortalizing the memory of the victims of fascism, defenders of the Fatherland, as well as equipping wards for veterans and disabled individuals of the Great Patriotic War at the Yurtsevo regional hospital for disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War, the regional hospital, and other medical institutions in the region. However, given the current epidemiological situation, we decided to allocate part of the funds to assist in the fight against coronavirus infection. This is a common cause that requires the contribution of each of us, – said Tatyana Tumanova, Chairperson of the regional branch of the Belarusian Peace Foundation.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Health has opened a special charitable account to support sanitary and anti-epidemic measures and public health protection. This was prompted by appeals received by the ministry from citizens, enterprises, organizations, and representatives of private businesses with initiatives to provide sponsorship to the healthcare system during this challenging period. The account has been opened at the state institution "Republican Center for Medical Response Organization." Charitable funds will be distributed according to the needs of specific healthcare institutions and will be used to purchase protective equipment for doctors, test systems, medications, and other essential items.
According to official data from the ministry as of March 27, there were 62 patients under medical supervision and treatment for coronavirus in the republic, and 32 individuals who previously tested positive for COVID-19 have already been discharged or are preparing for discharge.
