How Vitebsk will celebrate City Day - 2021 (event program)
Dance, vocal, sports, interactive, art programs, and intellectual competitions await residents and guests of Vitebsk on June 26-27 during the City Day celebration. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Vitebsk City Executive Committee.
Vitebsk will celebrate its 1047th anniversary and the 77th anniversary of its liberation from Nazi invaders this coming weekend. Festive events will be held in the city on the Vitebsk River, involving everyone from young to old. City Day will open with a rally at the memorial complex in honor of the soldiers, partisans, and underground fighters of the Vitebsk region on June 26 at 12:00 PM. The leadership of the region, the city, representatives of public organizations and enterprises of the city, veterans, and youth will lay wreaths and flowers at the "Three Bayonets" as a sign of respect for the feat of the military generation. Here, on the opposite bank, a historical reenactment will traditionally unfold – the battle for Vitebsk. Concert programs featuring creative groups from the city will be held in Victory Park.
Vitebsk will appear in all its picturesque beauty. Exhibitions of artworks, including those by students from children's art schools and general education institutions, exhibitions of handicrafts, plein air painting sessions, and competitions for young artists – all this can be seen on the city streets, and you can support emerging and established painters and folk masters.
Sports competitions will be held in the park in the Vitebsk River floodplain. The battles promise to be heated: an open beach soccer tournament, the II stage of the Belarusian Motorcycle Gymkhana Championship, and streetball competitions among boys and girls. Lovers of calmer sports can join the billiards and chess tournaments, which will take place at the FOK "GFSK "Vitebsk". And fishing enthusiasts can test their skills in a fishermen's tournament on Lake Luchinovka in the Vitebsk region.
Representatives of the golden age will be able to attend a retro evening in Frunze Park and dance to the sounds of a brass band.
An afterparty awaits fans of steel horses on June 27: an auto festival and a disco with car audio will take place on the lower platform of the Summer Amphitheater. And on Victory Square, there will be an exhibition of cars of all ranks and calibers. Representatives of the next generation will also showcase themselves here: the creative competition "Fire of Youth Talents" and a hot DJ battle will ignite the flame of enthusiasm in participants and spectators.
Visitors to the living history camp of historical reconstruction clubs, which will be located in the cultural and historical complex "Golden Ring of Vitebsk "Dvina", will be able to immerse themselves in ancient traditions. On June 26-27, the Vitebsk City Center for Additional Education for Children and Youth will host the XVIII International Tournament of Intellectual Games "Princess Olga's Cup", where participants will have to answer tricky questions. They will cover almost all areas of knowledge, and participants from more than 20 teams from Belarusian cities will need to demonstrate general erudition. The Cup is traditionally held during the city's birthday celebration. In previous years, the intellectual tournament attracted up to 60 teams not only from our country but also from Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, and other states.
Fairs and attractions will be open in Vitebsk for both days, and sports equipment rental points will be available in the city parks.
