For about fifteen years, the regional organization of the Belarusian Red Cross has been holding a competition for volunteer initiatives. The first stage is the submission of applications, which describe the tasks that the project implementation will solve, indicate its specific activities, target audience, participants, and budget. Then, the ideas that receive approval are refined if necessary, an estimate is drawn up, funding is allocated, and the initiative group can start implementing the plans in the very near future. The main condition is that the proposals must be within the scope of the main activities of the Belarusian Red Cross.

This year, 12 applications were received from different regions of Vitebsk region for the competition. Many concerned the continuation and improvement of the effective work that was carried out before, but there were also new ones. One of them, for example, is planned to be implemented in the Braslav district: to conduct the campaign "Blood Brother to All People," aimed at popularizing voluntary donation. The initiative was deemed worthy of financial support. The volunteer group "Kindness" from Glubokoye, whose main target group is people with musculoskeletal disorders and lonely elderly citizens, will also receive assistance. Plans include a lot: from organizing excursions to conducting training sessions on caring for people with disabilities. The Polotsk emergency response team will be allocated funds to improve the training level of participants, as well as to form first-aid kits necessary for providing first aid. And Vitebsk volunteers will be able to more actively develop a project related to clown therapy.

30 basic units will be allocated for the financing of each approved application. Three more initiative groups were recommended to refine their ideas. If all remarks are taken into account, the projects will also be able to receive financial support.
