What preventive measures are being taken in public transport in Vitebsk to minimize the spread of COVID-19

Какие профилактические меры принимаются в общественном транспорте Витебска для минимизации распространения COVID-19
During outbreaks of viral and infectious diseases, public transport, due to large crowds, becomes a place of increased danger. Dmitry Savchits, Deputy Head of the Trolleybus Depot of the Vitebsk City Electric Transport Branch, spoke about the preventive measures being taken in Vitebsk trolleybuses to minimize the spread of infection.

– In the regional center, 69 trolleybuses go on the line daily. Each mobile unit undergoes sanitary treatment, which includes washing the vehicle from the outside, wet cleaning of the interior, and aerosol treatment with a disinfectant, in our case, fast-dissolving chlorine tablets. We purchase them dry and then dilute them to the required concentration with water, – explained Dmitry Alexandrovich. – After treatment, each vehicle is washed manually using a high-pressure apparatus.

8 specially trained employees are responsible for disinfecting the vehicles, and they are fully equipped with personal protective equipment. They work in shifts. Each trolleybus arriving after the night shift is also disinfected. If a vehicle goes on the line twice a day, it undergoes a full disinfection treatment twice, which ensures antibacterial protection for passengers inside.

We remind you that a mask regime was introduced in Vitebsk on November 12. The comprehensive plan of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the period of increased incidence of acute respiratory infections has been supplemented with a clause requiring the use of masks at the following facilities of organizations of all forms of ownership: shops, shopping centers, pharmacies, healthcare facilities, public transport, including route taxis.
