Kaliningrad and Vitebsk regions are interested in cooperation in mechanical engineering and mutual trade turnover
According to Vladimir Turavinov, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Union of Employers, who organized the trip, the delegation, led by Oleg Matskevich, First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, included heads of more than a dozen enterprises in the region.
Companies that are already familiar with the Russian exclave and are interested in expanding their presence there and cooperating with local partners showed activity. Moreover, as negotiations in the government of the Kaliningrad region, the contact and cooperation exchange, and visits to a number of enterprises have shown, local businesses are ready to reciprocate.
Thus, the Orsha Meat Canning Plant and the Vitba Confectionery Factory signed contracts for the supply of products to the coastal region.
The machine-building company Vitebskiye Podemniki took a step forward in elaborating the issue of organizing joint activities with Avtotor CJSC, which is one of the largest Russian manufacturers of contract equipment for international brands.
Local companies highly appreciated the products of the Orsha Flax Mill and Vitebskhlebprom. There are topics for cooperation with Kaliningrad partners for the Obol Ceramic Plant and UP Polimerkonstruktsiya.
Negotiations on these and other areas will be continued at the investment forum in Kaliningrad, as well as during similar business events in Vitebsk, which will be held in May and July. In addition, the Belarusian delegation invited Kaliningrad entrepreneurs to present their products during the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk International Arts Festival.
The Vitebsk Regional Union of Employers and the Fund for Support of Entrepreneurs of the Kaliningrad Region, as well as the regional branch of the Union of Machine Builders of Russia, will provide ongoing assistance in expanding cooperation between the businesses of the two regions.
This is stipulated by the cooperation agreements signed by the organizations during the visit. In fact, the business unions of the two regions will become platforms for organizing and strengthening the dialogue between entrepreneurs of the Vitebsk region and the westernmost region of Russia.
