Chamber music performed by masters from five countries will be heard at the festival in Polotsk

March 3, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA /. Musicians and performers from Switzerland, Australia, China, Russia, and Belarus will take part in the XXIII International Festival of Ancient and Modern Chamber Music in Polotsk, which will open on March 11. Lilia Yemelyanova, head of the concert department of the National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve, informed a BELTA correspondent about this. The organizers of the traditional festival have prepared six eventful concert evenings for chamber music fans. This year, Polotsk is the cultural capital of Belarus, and the world community is celebrating several anniversary dates of great composers. All these events will be reflected in the festival program, including one of the concerts dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory. The festival will open on March 11 with a performance by the symphony orchestra of the National State Television and Radio Company of Belarus. This ensemble is well known to the festival's admirers. The musicians invite conductors from different countries to perform their programs; this time, the renowned Swiss conductor Simon Camartin will come to Polotsk. He is not only a wonderful conductor but also the author and organizer of chamber music festivals, and this aspect of his work is also of interest to the organizers of the Polotsk festival, noted Lilia Yemelyanova. The Belarusian-Swiss tandem of performers will present a program composed of works by Mozart, Schumann, Ravel, as well as the contemporary Belarusian composer Galina Gorelova. The next concert will be dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Victory. The laureate of international competitions, the Minsk musical chapel "Sonorus," will perform Maurice Duruflé's "Requiem." This lyrical-philosophical composition, whose main idea is the tragedy of the past war, was dedicated by the composer to the memory of the victims of fascism, among whom was his father. The festival will dedicate a piano music concert to the bicentennial of the birth of great composers Robert Schumann and Frédéric Chopin, performed by Professor of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, Honored Artist of Russia Nina Seregina, and her students. This year, the authoritative teacher and musician will present to the festival audience her 9-year-old student Timur Granovsky, who, despite his young age, is already a laureate of international competitions. Graduate students James Tandy (Australia) and Zhiva Sace (China) will also come to Polotsk with their teacher. The famous Polotsk organist Ksenia Pogorelaya will dedicate her festival performance to the 325th anniversary of Johann Sebastian Bach's birth. The organizers of the festival decided to dedicate the two final musical evenings to romance. One of the most popular genres at the festival will be presented by soloists of the National Academic Grand Opera and Ballet Theatre of Belarus and the State Academic Choir Chapel of Belarus named after G. Shirma, conducted by People's Artist of Belarus Lyudmila Efimova. The XXIII International Festival of Ancient and Modern Chamber Music will conclude on March 28. -0-
