Candidates from political parties of Belarus to the district election commissions constitute 18.8%

July 9, Minsk / Svetlana Savko - BELTA /. Candidates from political parties of Belarus for district election commissions constitute 18.8% of the total number of applicants. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Secretary of the Central Election Commission of Belarus, Nikolai Lozovik, summarizing the results of the next stage of preparation for the elections of deputies to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the fifth convocation. At the same time, some political parties showed quite high activity. For example, the "Fair World" party, in terms of the number of candidates nominated for district commissions, practically matched the republican public association "Belaya Rus" and the Belarusian Republican Youth Union. These organizations nominated 110 and 108 people for the commissions, respectively, or 5.2% and 5.1% of all applicants. "Fair World" nominated 88 people, or 4.1%, reported Nikolai Lozovik. "At this stage of the election campaign, they are competing on equal terms, although 'Belaya Rus' and the BRYU have hundreds of thousands of members, while the 'Fair World' party is far from being as numerous," noted the Secretary of the Central Election Commission. As for the other political parties and other public associations, the statistics are as follows: The Agrarian Party of Belarus nominated 20 people, or 0.9% of the total number of candidates; The Green Party - 5 people, or 0.2%; The Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) - 6 people, or 0.3%; The Belarusian Social Sports Party - 17 people, or 0.8%; The Communist Party of Belarus - 94 people, or 4.4%; The Liberal Democratic Party - 9 people, or 0.4%; The United Civil Party - 34 people, or 16%; The Party "Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada" - 9 people, or 0.4%; The BNF Party - 48 people, or 2.3%; The Republican Party - 14 people, or 0.7%; The Republican Party of Labor and Justice - 49 people, or 2.3%; The Social Democratic Party of Popular Accord - 7 people, or 0.3%; The Belarusian Public Association of Veterans nominated 98 people for district commissions, or 4.6% of the total number of applicants. The Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus - 279, or 13.1%, other public associations - 263 people, or 12.4%. As Nikolai Lozovik informed, out of all political parties registered in Belarus, only two did not participate in nominating candidates for district commissions - the Belarusian Patriotic Party and the Conservative Christian Party - BPF, led by Zenon Paznyak. "The Belarusian Women's Union also did not nominate its representatives. As far as I know, they did not manage to hold a meeting of the supreme governing body. It is possible that for the same reason, the Patriotic Party did not participate in nominating candidates for district commissions. As for Paznyak's party, they adhere to their established strategy - boycotting elections," said the Secretary of the Central Election Commission. In total, 2127 people were nominated for district election commissions for 110 constituencies. This includes about 60% of the total number of applicants from political parties and other public associations. Citizens proposed about 30% of the candidates by submitting applications, and work collectives - 10.8%. Today, the presidiums of regional, Minsk city Councils of Deputies and regional, Minsk city executive committees will hold meetings to form the composition of district commissions. In total, there will be 110 commissions working at the parliamentary elections. This includes 20 in Minsk. There will be 17 commissions in Minsk and Gomel regions each, 16 in Brest region, 14 in Vitebsk region, and 13 district election commissions each in Mogilev and Grodno regions. -0-
