Every second family in Belarus will have broadband internet access by the end of the year

March 24, Minsk / Andrey Asfura - BELTA /. By the end of 2010, Belarus expects almost 1.8 million broadband internet subscribers and users, which will account for almost half of the households in the republic. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Ivan Rak, First Deputy Minister of Communications and Informatization. "In other words, every second family will be connected to the Internet using fixed broadband access technologies," he explained. "And this does not take into account the use of wireless broadband access." The First Deputy Minister recalled that by the end of 2009, Belarus had more than 1.08 million fixed broadband internet subscribers and users (compared to 0.48 million in 2008). "In fact, the number of subscribers and users more than doubled in a year," Ivan Rak stated. -0-
