Every fourth candidate for deputy in the Vitebsk region is raising additional funds for their campaign

September 11, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Every fourth candidate for deputy in the Vitebsk region has used the right to receive additional funds for their election campaign. Twelve out of 49 registered candidates have opened special election accounts in the branches of OJSC "Savings Bank "Belarusbank". This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the department of organizational and personnel work of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee. The greatest agitation activity, judging by the number of special accounts opened, is intended to be shown by candidates in the Polotsk City Electoral District No. 28. Here, all three contenders have used the right to replenish their election funds. In the Vitebsk-Chkalovsky Electoral District No. 18, Novopolotsk No. 25, Sharkovshchinsky No. 29, two contenders for the deputy seat have opened special accounts, and in Vitebsk Rural No. 21, Lepel No. 23, Orsha City No. 26 - one candidate each. The opportunity for candidates for deputies of the House of Representatives to open special accounts and thus form election funds has appeared for the first time. Citizens and legal entities can direct funds to candidates' accounts for conducting the election campaign. The sizes of the funds are limited - up to 1 thousand basic units, which currently amounts to Br100 million. These funds can be used for the production of additional print runs of campaign leaflets. From the additional fund, candidates can pay for airtime on television and radio, and purchase print space in newspapers. The presence of a special election account imposes additional responsibilities on the applicant for a deputy mandate. According to the law, the candidate or their representative on financial matters must submit a financial report to the district election commission twice during the election campaign: the first - from September 7 to 12 inclusive, the second (final) - no later than September 27. In addition, unused funds must be returned to depositors no later than three days after the elections. The status of the special account is not a secret to the voter. District commissions are obliged to regularly provide the media with information on the receipt and expenditure of funds received into the candidate's fund. According to the official website of OJSC "SB "Belarusbank", currently, throughout Belarus, 74 candidates for deputies of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the fifth convocation have opened special election accounts. -0-
