Every second construction site in the Vitebsk region was overdue as of July 1

October 8, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. A working group to survey facilities of super-normative unfinished construction is being created in the Vitebsk region. The creation of such a group was initiated today at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee by its chairman, Alexander Kosinets, a BELTA correspondent reports. According to the head of the region, insufficient measures are being taken in the districts and cities to implement the Council of Ministers' resolution "On the completion deadlines, sale, repurposing and demolition of facilities of super-normative unfinished construction in 2005 (second half) - 2010". As of January 1 of the current year, there were 1211 facilities of super-normative unfinished construction in the region, which is 56.2% of the total number of unfinished construction facilities. As of July 1, 2009, out of 2148 unfinished construction facilities, 1255 had super-normative construction deadlines. Practically every second facility under construction (or construction suspended) is super-normative. Alexander Kosinets believes that local authorities do not have accurate figures on the number of super-normative construction facilities. A clear program is needed, with an analysis of the facility, economic calculations for its completion, demolition or repurposing. Such work will help avoid unjustified budget expenditures. At the governor's suggestion, the group will include deputy chairmen of city and district executive committees, heads of structural divisions of the regional executive committee, heads of trusts, and prosecutors. -0-
