KB «Display»: betting on market diversification

Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev visited OJSC "Design Bureau "Display" in Vitebsk. The head of the region visited a number of the enterprise's divisions, got acquainted with product samples created in previous years, and the best modern ones. Explanations were provided by the Director of the Design Bureau, Alexander Voytenkov, who has headed the team for 20 years.

 

The bureau was established in 1987 on the basis of the applied television department of the special design bureau of the Vitebsk Television Plant for the purpose of research and development of information display means for various systems and complexes. It was registered by the administration of the "Vitebsk" free economic zone. In 2017, it was accredited as a scientific organization.

 

The main goal of "Display" is the creation of high-tech products that meet the modern technical level, are in demand in Belarus, CIS countries and neighboring countries, and are suitable for mass production. Currently, the company is engaged in the development and production of video monitors, panel and portable computers, microdisplay indicator systems, information security, and other areas.

The overall conclusion regarding what was seen can be formulated as follows: the level is advanced. In recent years, buildings have been renovated, new equipment has been purchased, two new production sites have been commissioned, and the laboriousness of the products has been significantly reduced,

New types of products have been developed, including large-screen video monitors and medical ones. All set targets are met. 90% of the products are exported, the volume of which for 2018 amounted to 13,260 thousand dollars. The largest share is accounted for by supplies to the Russian Federation. The focus is on market diversification, and entering foreign countries is, according to the director, the number one task. Negotiations are underway with potential customers, and there is confidence that new contracts will be concluded.

Based on the results of 2018, for achieving the best indicators in the field of socio-economic development and saving fuel, energy, and material resources, the "Display" bureau was inscribed on the Vitebsk Honor Board, and by the decision of the "Vitebsk" FEZ council, it was recognized as the best resident.

The "Display" team is relatively small – 390 people, with youth predominating among them. There were no reasons for the bureau's employees to appeal to the head of the region: socio-economic indicators are at a high level, and salaries are in the 2nd-3rd position among Vitebsk enterprises.
