The Vitebsk Regional Control Committee in 2010 inspected 250 retail outlets and found violations in all of them

January 18, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo – BELTA /. Violations in the sale of goods in 2010 were identified by employees of the Vitebsk Oblast Committee for State Control in all 250 inspected retail outlets in the region, the Oblast Committee for State Control informed a BELTA correspondent. The results of the control measures indicate insufficient use of levers of influence on the process of trade services for the population by local executive and administrative bodies, the Committee for State Control believes. Of the 250 inspected retail outlets, 201 (80.4%) did not comply with the quality requirements for goods sold, with goods worth Br23.1 million rejected; in 159 (63.6%), customers were not provided with the necessary information about the goods, and in 117 (46.8%), sanitary norms and rules were violated. In 2010, violations of current legislation were identified in all 89 inspected stores and public catering facilities of consumer cooperation in the region. The sale of substandard goods worth Br10.6 million was prohibited. According to the employees of the Committee for State Control, one of the reasons for the violations is the lack of effective control, despite the presence of departmental control in the consumer cooperation system, as well as an employee of the district union assigned to each store. Egregious violations of trade rules were identified during the inspection of seven retail outlets of the Shumilino District Union in December 2010. In each of the inspected retail outlets, goods with expired (sometimes up to 8.5 months) shelf lives were put up for sale; in four outlets, sanitary norms and rules were not observed during the storage and sale of food products; in two outlets, necessary information about the goods was not provided to customers; and in one outlet, the assortment list of goods was not observed. Based on the results of the inspections in 2010, more than 400 people were brought to disciplinary action, including 20 dismissed from their positions; 652 offenders were brought to administrative responsibility with fines totaling Br81.5 million, and Br74.8 million was recovered from business entities. -0-
