The KGB of Control has identified violations in the organization of catering in two hospitals and a nursing home in the Vitebsk region

The Vitebsk Regional Committee for State Control notes the lack of proper control over the provision of rational nutrition in two hospitals and a nursing home, the regional KGB reported to a BELTA correspondent. In the third quarter of this year, committee specialists checked the targeted and effective use of budget funds allocated for organizing patient nutrition at the Ratsivsky Psychoneurological Nursing Home for the Elderly and Disabled, Novopolotsk Central City Hospital, and Kholomerskaya Rural District Hospital. The institutions lack proper control over the provision of rational nutrition for patients, norms are not met, there is no variety in the menu, violations of cooking technology occur, and underweight portions are allowed, the KGB believes. Hospitals failed to comply with sanitary norms and rules for the transportation, storage, and use of products. Vehicles intended for the transportation of food products were not regularly sanitized. At the Ratsivsky Nursing Home, due to the understatement of carcass dressing yields during livestock slaughter, over 100 kg of beef and over 40 kg of pork worth Br1.6 million were not accounted for. Meat and meat products obtained after slaughter, as established during the inspection, were not subjected to veterinary and sanitary expertise and veterinary stamping. Production premises and the slaughter area did not comply with the requirements of the Veterinary Rules. At Novopolotsk Central City Hospital, during the inventory of food residues in the kitchen, surpluses of butter and sour cream were found, which were not added when preparing dishes for breakfast and lunch. For lunch for adult and children's wards, portions of chicken were prepared and served with an underweight of about 20%. In total, at the time of inspection, facts of underweight products worth Br93.1 thousand were identified in one day. Upon re-inventory of residues, underweight portions of meat dishes were again discovered. As a result, the underweight of beef exceeded 4 kg worth Br44.6 thousand. From January to August, 2.7 tons of pork in skin were used in the hospital for preparing dishes. During carcass cutting, the skin was not removed but was written off as meat in dishes. In total, 163 kg of pork skin were used in dishes. At Kholomerskaya Rural District Hospital, pork skin was also written off for preparing dishes. From January to March of this year, 20.8 kg of pork skin were used for preparing dishes. Bread and baguettes were issued to patients with expired shelf lives of up to seven days. The kitchen and storage facilities are equipped with only one set of scales, on which raw products and ready-to-eat products are weighed. Based on the results of the inspection, information on the identified violations was sent to the committees for agriculture and food, labor and social protection of the population of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
