The Cyril and Methodius Youth Readings will take place today in Vitebsk
The scientific and practical conference of young researchers "Cyril and Methodius Youth Readings", dedicated to the celebration of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus', will be held today in Vitebsk. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the press secretary of the Vitebsk diocese of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, Archpriest Andrei Smolsky.
"The problematic field of the conference is quite broad. In addition to the Baptism of Rus' and various aspects of the educational activities of the Equal-to-the-Apostles brothers Cyril and Methodius, topics of saints and holy places of the Christian world are touched upon, and there are scientific works dedicated to the role of Christianity in the destinies of Slavic peoples," noted Andrei Smolsky.
About 20 reports will be presented at the conference. Research papers have been prepared by students and young scientists from the Vitebsk Theological Seminary, Masherov Vitebsk State University, and the Vitebsk branch of the International University "MITSO". Schoolchildren will take an active part. "According to the regulations, young people under 33 years of age can participate in the conference. There is no lower age limit. This is done to attract a larger number of children and adolescents to the readings. Such events also serve the purpose of spiritual and moral education of the younger generation. 8 reports by schoolchildren will be presented at the conference, 2 of which were written by primary school students. The youngest participants of the readings are third-graders from Beshenkovichi. The girls prepared a report on the topic "Orthodox Churches of their Native Land," said the Archpriest.
The scientific and practical conference of young researchers "Cyril and Methodius Youth Readings" will be held in Vitebsk as part of the XI Easter Festival dedicated to the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus' and the 1025th anniversary of the beginning of the educational activities of the holy apostles brothers Cyril and Methodius.
