China is advising Belarus on options for further strategy in the foreign exchange market
June 20, Minsk / Vladimir Matveev - BELTA /. China is advising Belarus on options for further currency market strategy. This issue is being discussed today at a meeting between President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and Director of the Financial Market Department of the People's Bank of China Xie Duo, a BELTA correspondent reports.
"A month ago, due to problems arising in our consumer and currency markets, I listened not only to our government and representatives of the National Bank on stabilizing the situation, but also worked with Russians, leading world banks, listened to their assessments and proposals," Alexander Lukashenko noted. "The most important thing for me was a more strategic issue, working with Chinese specialists, representatives of the People's Bank of China. Then, through our friend, the PRC Ambassador to Belarus, I appealed to my friend, PRC Chairman Hu Jintao, the government, and the leadership of the People's Bank of China, to send specialists to us to talk about the financial management system that has developed in the PRC."
"We know well that the Americans don't like it very much, that it's not some special system, but nevertheless it is very effective and allows the PRC to solve any problems. We were very interested in this," the head of state stated.
According to Alexander Lukashenko, Chinese specialists were asked to assess the situation in Belarus and express their position, suggesting ways out of this situation. "The Chinese specialists were given the task, I asked them to assess the situation in the country, express their position and suggest ways out of this situation, as well as to evaluate our ways out of it. But most importantly, from their point of view, they should recommend one of the options for further strategy of action in the currency market, in particular, the work of the National Bank. As I was informed, the PRC specialists have answers to all these questions," the President of Belarus said.
The head of state also expressed satisfaction with the work done by the Chinese experts, noting that many of his positions coincide with the opinion of the Chinese specialists.
In addition, Alexander Lukashenko asked to convey sincere gratitude to the leadership of the People's Republic of China for their very prompt response to his request and the work of representatives of this country in Belarus. "We have not had such responsible and decent people before," the Belarusian leader emphasized. -0-
