A club of milkmaids who produced 7,000 liters of milk has been created in the Vitebsk region
August 19, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. A club of milkmaids who produce seven thousand kilograms of milk has been created in the Vitebsk region, the first deputy chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Agriculture and Food Committee, Ruslan Furashov, told a BELTA correspondent.
Thirteen milkmaids from various farms in the region, who produce seven thousand kilograms or more of milk per cow annually, have become full members of the club. As Ruslan Furashov noted, over the four years of implementing the program for the revival and development of rural areas, more than 20 agricultural organizations in the region have surpassed the 6,000-kilogram milk yield mark, while the regional average is 4,000 kg of milk per cow. In January-July of this year, milk production in the region increased by 8.6% compared to the same period last year.
The growth in livestock productivity has been largely facilitated by the intensification of the production process, the adoption of modern technologies for animal keeping and feeding, as well as the reconstruction and technical re-equipment of dairy farms. During the program implementation period, from 2005 to 2008, 112 dairy farms, 16 pig breeding complexes, 11 cattle fattening complexes, and 7 poultry farms were reconstructed.
This year, 21 dairy farms are scheduled for reconstruction. It is planned that all work will be completed by October. -0-
