The "Contact" club for at-risk teenagers has opened in Vitebsk
In the new club, Vitebsk schoolchildren, with whom the juvenile affairs inspectorate conducts individual preventive work, will engage in physical training, shooting, and learn about the work of law enforcement officers. "It is important for us to establish a dialogue with teenagers. They will have classes on studying criminal and administrative law, not in the form of boring lectures, but through interactive communication and games," said Dmitry Borodavko. "This will help not only to avoid unlawful actions in the future but also to guide the guys on how to act correctly in a particular life situation. In addition to classes in the sports and fitness halls and the shooting range, we will organize hiking trips and excursions to interesting places in the Vitebsk region. If the guys are interested, at their recommendation, we will invite figures from science, culture, sports, and war veterans for meetings with the younger generation."
The children met their future instructors and saw the conditions in which they would train. Everyone liked the modern fitness room equipped with Belarusian-made equipment. In the shooting range, no one passed by the body armor, protective helmets, and weapons. The police officers said that according to statistics, girls shoot more accurately. And in future classes, female representatives have a chance to prove that they have no equals as snipers.
No schoolchildren remained indifferent to the small self-defense master class. As noted by the Deputy Head of the Department of Internal Affairs, Andrey Belkovsky, the children will have lessons in unarmed self-defense, and during the warm season, mini-football and basketball courts await them. The Internal Affairs Directorate also plans to organize competitions between the club's teams and schoolchildren of the city.
Members of the "Kontakt" club were shown the very heart of the district police department – the duty unit, where all signals from the public and enterprises are received. The boys and girls appreciated the efficiency of the uniformed officers. Many of the young people do not yet know what profession they will choose in the future. Perhaps, getting acquainted with this aspect of law enforcement activities will help them make up their minds and radically change the vector of their energy, directing it towards creation, protection, and helping people.-0-
