"Wheel" in "lucky thirteen"

«Колесо» в «счастливом тринадцатом»

From June 12 to 16, Moscow hosted a historical reenactment festival of an early 20th-century city celebration called "HAPPY THIRTEENTH". The organizers (the festival was held on the initiative of the Museum of Moscow) quickly chose a date exactly a century ago, i.e., 1913 – a year of economic and cultural flourishing for Moscow and the Russian Empire, a favorite starting point for Soviet statistics.

Each day of the festival was dedicated to a specific theme – theater, art and poetry, circus, sports. And it was on the first – "theater" day – that the Vitebsk youth theater "KOLESO" under the direction of Vladislava Tsviki was invited. Kazimir MALEVICH – a significant figure for both cities – exhibited his famous "Black Square" to the audience in 1913. Strangely enough, exactly one hundred years later, this event became the starting point for the theater "KOLESO" to participate in an unusual celebration. The performance opened with a "walking" exhibition – people on stilts, holding suprematist paintings by the famous Vitebsk artist Alexander MALEY.

The "live" exhibition mingled with the crowd, drawing people to the main event – the performance itself. Young artists from "KOLESA" – actors and musicians – presented Muscovites with the musical farce "ForteProUN," which literally translates to "loud project for the affirmation of the new," based on the works of de Gelderode, Brant, Malevich, and Kharms. And, judging by the audience's reaction, which completely filled the small amphitheater on the grounds of the Moscow Museum, the "Koleso" theater's long journey to the "white stone city" was not in vain, and they added their own colors to the festival's engaging program.
