The number of appeals to the economic court of the Vitebsk region in January-September decreased by 3% to 11 thousand.

The number of applications to the economic court of the Vitebsk region in January-September of the current year decreased by 3% compared to the same period in 2009 and amounted to about 11 thousand, Olga Kibisova, head of the court's judicial practice department, told a BELTA correspondent. The reduction in the total number of applications occurred for the first time since 2008, while the amount of claims filed for recovery decreased by almost 20% (to Br319 billion). Thus, the number of lawsuits decreased by 4.5% to 6.8 thousand. The number of administrative offense materials decreased by 22% to almost 1.3 thousand, while the number of administrative offense reports received from tax authorities decreased by more than a third (to 918). At the same time, the number of cases related to the complex category of disputes increased, namely, on the conclusion, amendment and termination of contracts (an increase of 62% to 47 cases), on the recognition of transactions as invalid or void (doubled to 30 cases). The number of applications for initiating summary proceedings increased by 10.6% to more than 2.6 thousand. In the total number of received applications, the share of lawsuits was 62% (6.9 thousand), summary proceedings accounted for 24% (2.6 thousand), and administrative cases accounted for 12% (1.3 thousand). For 9 months, the enforcement department of the economic court initiated almost 6.3 thousand enforcement proceedings, which is almost 6.3% less than in the same period of 2009. At the same time, there is a trend of increasing by more than 1.5 times the appeals to the court by such creditors as RUP "Vitebskenergo" and banks. In total, in January-September, almost Br128.4 billion was recovered from defendants in enforcement proceedings, which is more than 2.5 times higher than the same indicator for the 9 months of 2009. -0-
