The number of inspections by labor inspectors in the Vitebsk region decreased by 13.7% in 2009
January 25, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The number of inspections by state labor inspectors in the Vitebsk region in 2009 decreased by 13.7% compared to the previous year, the first deputy head of the Vitebsk regional department of the State Labor Inspectorate of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, Sergey Anufriev, told a BELTA correspondent.
Last year, labor inspectors in the region conducted 2.9 thousand inspections at 2.4 thousand organizations, resulting in 2.3 thousand orders to eliminate 29 thousand violations. At the same time, the effectiveness of control measures has significantly increased. In total, during their implementation, 1.9 thousand people were suspended from work at the request of labor inspection employees, the operation of 2.2 thousand units of equipment, 54 sections, and 3 workshops was prohibited. For violations that led to fatal and severe injuries, based on the results of special investigations in 2009, contracts were terminated with 17 specialists, including one manager and one employee who was intoxicated at the workplace at the time of the incident.
950 inspections were carried out in small businesses, or 33.3% of their total number. During their implementation, 9.4 thousand violations were detected (32.15%). At the same time, positive trends began to emerge in these enterprises. Thus, last year there were no fatal accidents here. Five employees received severe industrial injuries, which is one less than in 2008. In addition, representatives of small businesses paid more attention to improving their knowledge of labor protection issues in 2009. 2.7 thousand managers and specialists of small businesses took part in seminars, meetings, and conferences organized by state labor inspectors, and 964 of them passed certification on labor protection issues in the regional and district commissions.
In general, most sectors of the national economy show a positive trend in resolving labor protection issues. A low level of labor protection, caused in most cases by organizational reasons, persists only in a number of organizations of the agro-industrial complex of communal ownership, the interlocutor added. -0-
