The number of severe injury cases in the Vitebsk region decreased by 27.6% in the first quarter.
April 10, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. A decrease in cases of severe injuries and fatalities at workplaces is noted in the Vitebsk region based on the results of the first quarter, First Deputy Head of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the State Labor Inspectorate of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, Sergey Anufriev, told a BELTA correspondent.
In January-March, 5 cases of fatalities at workplaces and 21 cases of severe injuries were registered in the region, which is 16.6% and 27.6% less than the same period last year, respectively.
Fatalities occurred in Vitebsk, Liozno, Postavy (1 each) and Chashniki (2) districts. Cases of severe injuries were registered in Braslav, Verkhnedvinsk, Senno, Tolochin districts, Orsha, Novopolotsk, and other districts.
Despite the overall positive trend in the region, an increase in fatal injuries is noted in Liozno, Postavy, Chashniki districts, and severe injuries in Braslav, Senno, Tolochin districts, Orsha, and Vitebsk. The main cause of most accidents is the low level of labor and performance discipline of employees, managers, and specialists, Sergey Anufriev noted, emphasizing that, taking this into account, state inspectors of the Vitebsk Regional Department have continued to monitor labor discipline.
In January-March, inspections of labor discipline compliance and access control procedures were carried out in 156 organizations, including 109 non-state-owned organizations. Corresponding violations were committed by 1.3 thousand employees at these enterprises. 1.1 thousand people were brought to disciplinary action for this, including 126 reprimands, 463 warnings, and 486 dismissals.
Since the beginning of the year, the Vitebsk Regional Department has been carrying out targeted work to strengthen supervision of economic entities in their compliance with the requirements of Directive No. 1 and labor protection legislation at enterprises in the region. Based on the results of inspections in January-March, state labor inspectors identified and indicated in inspection reports 4.2 thousand violations by the inspected economic entities. Due to the danger of operation, work of 244 units of machine tools, machines, and other equipment posing a threat to the life and health of employees was suspended or prohibited during the reporting period, and the operation of three workshops (sections) was suspended. At the request of state labor inspectors, 299 employees were suspended from work, which is 52% more compared to January-March 2011.
During the reporting period of 2012, 31 employers and 263 officials were brought to administrative liability in the form of fines for violating labor protection legislation. The total number of fines issued during the reporting period of 2012 was 294, which is 46% more than the same period last year. 174 officials were brought to disciplinary action during this period. For 17 established cases of non-compliance with the orders issued in January-March 2012, in accordance with Article 23.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus, state labor inspectors drew up administrative offense reports and sent them to the courts.-0-
