The team from Ulla was the strongest at the regional plowing competition

Команда из Уллы была сильнейшей на областном конкурсе пахарей

The 45th regional plowing competition was held for three days at the Ulla State Vocational Lyceum of Agricultural Production named after L. Dovator in the Beshenkovichi district.

22 students and 11 young masters of industrial training from all secondary specialized and vocational education institutions training in the qualification "Tractor Driver-Machinist of Agricultural Production" participated in it. The theoretical stage consisted of 100 questions on agronomy, rules of operation, maintenance and repair of equipment, and execution of basic agrotechnical techniques. The practical part included plowing and driving a tractor unit in confined spaces. Students performed the task in the field on a "Belarus-1221" with a four-furrow plow, and masters of industrial training on a "Belarus-3022" with an eight-furrow plow.

In the individual standings among students

the first place was taken by Vyacheslav Kiselevich from the Polotsk Vocational Lyceum, the second place by Maxim Kalnin, and the third place by Vyacheslav Konakov (both from Ulla).

Among the masters of industrial training

the winner was Andrey Pahirko (Gorodok Agricultural Technical College), and the prize-winners included Viktor Gamzyuk (Ulla Vocational Lyceum) and Denis Avizich (Postavy State College).

In the team standings

the first place was won by the hosts of the competition, followed by Polotsk and Postavy residents on the podium.

Today, the chairman of the regional executive committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, arrived at the solemn award ceremony for the winners. He also assessed the quality of work and communicated with the contestants. By the way, they plowed a field of 25 hectares, where oil radish will be sown tomorrow. Nikolai Nikolaevich noted that due to a significant increase in the duration of practice (from 5 weeks to 2.5 months in spring and autumn), students of educational institutions are getting closer to agricultural enterprises. This helps young people, as they say, to get their hands dirty and consolidate their acquired knowledge in practice.

By the way, more than 600 students took part in the current sowing campaign. About 2,000 people are studying to become machine operators in the vocational education system, with 500 specialists graduating annually. In addition to their main profession, they also obtain qualifications as mechanics, drivers, or welders.

The head of the region assured that the renewal of the machine and tractor fleet of educational institutions will continue, which should contribute to the training of highly qualified specialists. It is planned that the agricultural sector of the Vitebsk region will be completely re-equipped in the next five years. This will make it possible to perform an even larger volume of work with a reduction in human resources. Even today, some machine operators on high-power machinery cultivate 1-2 thousand hectares, which also affects salary levels. For example, for the sowing season, some were charged 3.5-3.8 thousand rubles.

In a conversation with journalists, Nikolai Sherstnev emphasized that thanks to the ideal weather conditions, Vitebsk region agrarians worked on equal terms with their colleagues from the southern regions of the country for the first time. At the same time, we went to the fields significantly later, but finished sowing first. The work was carried out with high quality. The weather also allowed for an increase in the sown areas for almost all crops. Taking into account winter crops, if no force majeure occurs, 400 thousand hectares of grain crops will be ready for harvest, which has not happened for a long time.
