December 4, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA /. The President of Belarus team won an away victory over the Vitebsk region team with a score of 5:3 (0:0, 2:0, 3:3) in the match of the Fourth Republican Amateur Hockey Competition for prizes of the Presidential Sports Club, a BELTA correspondent reports. The hosts, supported by packed stands of the Ice Sports Palace, tried to draw the President of Belarus team into a tough fight from the very first minutes, periodically creating sharp moments at the opponent's goal. Despite the absence of goals in the first period, the spectators were not bored, as the teams demonstrated attacking hockey, but the players lacked accuracy in the final phase. In the second twenty-minute period, the guests managed to hit the hosts' goal twice. Dmitry Matsulevich opened the scoring in the 26th minute of the match, and 12 minutes later, the tournament's top scorer Andrei Astashevich scored. The key moment of the meeting was the beginning of the third period, when within one minute Pavel Bely (40th min.) and Andrei Astashevich (41st min.) knocked down their opponents. Although the Vitebsk team made a desperate assault and lit the lamp behind the guests' goal three times, they could not eliminate the deficit. At the same time, the hosts conceded dangerous counterattacks from the President of Belarus team, but Vitebsk goaltender Artem Myasnikov played reliably. The most productive players of the match were Andrei Astashevich - 3 (2+1) scoring points, as well as Pavel Bely and Vladimir Tsyplakov - 2 (1+1) each. After this game, Andrei Astashevich strengthened his lead in the tournament's scoring race, now having 7 goals and 4 assists. The best players of the match were recognized as Vladimir Kopat (in the President of Belarus team) and Artem Myasnikov (in the Vitebsk region team). As usual, the President of Belarus team thanked hockey fans after the final siren, sending dozens of plush toys to the stands.
