The Vitebsk region team became the winner of "Minsk Ski Track - 2017"

It was crowded at the capital's ski-roller track in Vesnyanka from early morning. The organizers' concerns about the weather conditions were dispelled today by a light frost, light snow, and an excellent track. The whims of nature, which could have led to the cancellation of the sports festival, faded into the background. Participants of the upcoming starts were actively preparing in the warm-up zone.

Most participants did not have to get used to the route: the ski track follows the path of the ski-roller track – so it is never deserted here.

The regions were the first to compete in the relay race – they were almost neck and neck at first: during the race, Minsk was ahead, then Brest... But still, in the most winter sport, led by the governor, the coldest Vitebsk region symbolically won.

- We did not set the task to win, we set the task to show the maximum of what we are capable of. We managed to win, and we are happy, - noted Nikolai Sherstnev, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

The team of the Brest Regional Executive Committee crossed the finish line second, and the team of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee completed the top three prize-winners.

The award ceremony for the winners and prize-winners was attended by Vasily Zharko, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, and Alexander Shamko, Minister of Sport and Tourism.

- The sports festival was a success, the weather did not disappoint, the participants showed an exciting competition on the course. Today, at the ski-roller track in Vesnyanka, many showed by personal example their attitude to a healthy lifestyle. In Belarus, mass sports festivals are gathering more and more people. About 2,000 people took part in the "Minsk Ski Track" race – a good indicator. It is pleasing that more and more young people are willingly participating in sports festivals that are now held every weekend, this helps to develop sports and promotes the health protection of the population, - noted Vasily Zharko.
