Commissions for Juvenile Affairs of Vitebsk Region celebrated the 100th anniversary of the service

Комиссии по делам несовершеннолетних Витебщины отметили 100-летие службы
A solemn regional meeting dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of commissions for juvenile affairs was held recently at the Vitebsk City Center for Additional Education for Children and Youth.

Vladimir Penin, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Chairman of the Commission for Juvenile Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee, presents awards to the best representatives of the regional commissions for juvenile affairs

The fact that many guests and partner friends gathered in the hall indicates that it is practically impossible to combat family dysfunction, social orphanhood, raising difficult teenagers, and reducing and preventing juvenile delinquency alone.

– Today, not only commissions, but also education, law enforcement agencies, social protection, and healthcare are actively addressing the problems of child and family dysfunction. Social and pedagogical centers, orphanages, correctional and developmental education and rehabilitation centers, and territorial centers for social services provide a whole range of services. The creation of crisis rooms and temporary accommodation centers for victims of violence, including women with children who have experienced domestic violence, in the region also contributes to the development of the system, – said Tamara Olekhnovich, Deputy Chairman of the Commission for Juvenile Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee.

There should be no random people in the matter of child protection. Among the best is Elena Goryun, who has been working in the commission for juvenile affairs of the Glubokoye District Executive Committee for 33 years and has repeatedly proven her professionalism and dedication to the cause.

The most deserving representatives of the service were honored with certificates of honor and letters of gratitude from the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, the regional executive committee, the regional council, the Department of Internal Affairs, the regional prosecutor's office, and the departments of education and healthcare in honor of the anniversary.

But the main reward for those who protect children's rights is happy children.

IN FIGURES: In the 11 years since the implementation of Decree No. 18 alone, almost 6,000 children have been recognized as needing state protection and removed from negligent parents. As a result of working with families, in 60% of cases, they were returned home. Thus, about 3.3 thousand children did not become orphans with living mothers and fathers.
