Vitebsk utility services promise to extend the heating season in the residential sector by 5-10 days compared to last year, BELTA was informed by the Vitebsk City Executive Committee. In accordance with the regulations, centralized heating in the residential sector is turned off when the average daily outdoor air temperature has been stably at plus 8 degrees Celsius for 5 days. For now, based on preliminary forecasts from meteorologists, the City Executive Committee plans to complete the heating season on April 25 – a protracted spring is making itself felt. The regional housing and communal services department noted that this winter, total heat consumption increased by about 40% compared to last year due to frosts. Consumption of local types of fuel since the beginning of the year has increased by 8 thousand tons of conventional fuel compared to the same period last year, reaching 48 thousand tons. Local types of fuel account for 44% of the region's fuel balance. -0-
