Vitebsk utility workers took advantage of the snow timeout and switched to round-the-clock work

February 4, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Vitebsk's public utilities services took advantage of the lull in snowfall and switched to round-the-clock operation, the Vitebsk City Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. Today, over 1,000 janitors and more than 20 units of equipment are working in the regional center to clear snowdrifts in the courtyards. During thaws, ice and icicles on roofs pose a particular danger, and the risk of snow caps falling from roofs increases. To prevent emergencies, utility workers have involved 8 teams of climbers and 13 units of equipment to clear roofs. According to the city's public utilities department, almost 2,000 roofs have been cleared this winter, covering an area of over 250,000 square meters. The Vitebsk Regional Center for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring reported that a record snow cover height of 49 cm has been recorded in the regional center this winter. Forecasters predict that the warming will continue this weekend, with precipitation mainly in the form of rain. -0-
