The competition for the best Belarusian doll has been announced in the Year of the Native Land in the Dubrovno region

A Belarusian doll will be created in the Year of the Native Land in the Dubrovno district (Vitebsk region), the Culture Department of the Dubrovno District Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. Everyone is invited to participate in the competition - both professional craftsmen and folk artists, as well as simply creative individuals. The organizers do not impose strict requirements on the participants. Any materials can be used - clay, wood, fabrics, threads, etc. The authors also choose the age and size of the toy at their own discretion: the doll can be a village shepherd boy, a young lady, a mature princess, or an elderly townswoman. The main thing is that it reflects the Belarusian mentality and is dressed in a national costume, if possible, in the Dubrovno style of clothing. The results of the competition will be announced in June at the international festival of song and music "Dnieper Voices in Dubrovno". All works will be presented at an exhibition in the district House of Culture, during which residents of the district, guests, participants of the forum, as well as jury members will be able to evaluate the skill of the competition participants. The best doll will be named "Dubravushka" and will take a place of honor in the exposition of the district historical and local lore museum, the funds of which are currently being formed. Its author, as well as the creators of two other dolls that took second and third places, will be awarded valuable prizes. Awards also await participants whose creations will win in the nominations "Most Original Work", "Best Embodiment of the National Idea", and "Audience Choice Award" (voting will take place during the exhibition). The Culture Department noted that the fate of the remaining toys has not yet been decided. It is likely that they will be returned to the authors. As an alternative, the possibility of holding an auction and other options are being considered. -0-
