Vitebsk students' design victories at the international competition "Future Aces of Computer 3D Modeling"

Конструкторские победы витебских студентов на международном конкурсе «Будущие АСыКОМПьютерного 3D-моделирования»
For the sixth year in a row, Vitebsk State Technological University has been adding to its collection of top awards at the prestigious international student competition "Future Aces of Computer 3D Modeling" by ASCON, the largest Russian developer of engineering software.

For the sixth year in a row, Vitebsk State Technological University has been adding to its collection of top awards at the prestigious international student competition "Future Aces of Computer 3D Modeling" by ASCON", the largest Russian developer of engineering software. And for the third year in a row, representatives of the university have won in the most prestigious category - "Best Applied Development in "KOMPAS-3D".

In total, almost 200 works from 92 educational institutions in the post-Soviet space were submitted to the competition. As reported

«Vitebskiye Vesti» at the Department of Machines and Technologies of High-Performance Processes of VSTU, which presented the student works at the competition, two projects out of four became winners. The highest award for «Best Applied Development for «KOMPAS-3D» was received by the project «Virtual Test Bench» by VSTU graduate Elena Shcherbak, now a design engineer at the Vitebsk Instrument-Making Plant. The scientific supervisors of the development are senior lecturer of the university Alexey Golubev and junior researcher of the VSTU technopark Andrey Matveev, who, by the way, in 2011, being a student of the university, also became the absolute winner in this category. The virtual bench allows visualizing polymer testing. Its application in the educational process reduces the time and material costs for laboratory equipment and samples, and also provides an opportunity for a student's independent preparation for laboratory work.

Another award for the Vitebsk university – second place in the category

"Up to 200 parts in assembly" — the work of students Anton Matveev and Igor Lapov "Adhesive gun" (scientific supervisor — head of the research laboratory of the VSTU technopark Alexander Novikov) brought. As noted by the organizers of the competition, all Vitebsk participants demonstrated a high level of proficiency in modern design tools and an inventive approach to solving engineering problems.

Vitebsk university is the only one in Belarus that has participated in all competitions

"Future Aces of Computer 3D Modeling". The works presented over the years (and there were almost 40 of them) have been awarded diplomas "For a high level of design". VSTU has a licensed educational version of "KOMPAS-3D". In the first year, during drawing and descriptive geometry classes, skills in working with the automated system are acquired. Then, consistently, in the process of studying technical subjects, students become practically professional designers by the fifth year. Participation in an international competition gives students the opportunity to demonstrate their design skills, and teachers to test teaching methods in practice.
