The concept of healthcare development for the period up to 2015 is being developed in the Vitebsk region, the head of the healthcare department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Yuri Derkach, told a BELTA correspondent. The concept will be aimed at improving the demographic situation in the region, introducing modern medical technologies, and improving the material and technical base of medical institutions. Unified approaches to the development of the medical industry in the region will also allow for the rational use of budget funds, the interlocutor is confident. In 2010, more than Br20 billion will be allocated from the regional budget solely for priority measures to strengthen the material and technical base of hospitals and polyclinics. These funds are intended for the reconstruction of two therapeutic buildings, the modernization of the operating unit building with 6 operating rooms and the anesthesiology and resuscitation department of the regional children's clinical hospital, and the capital repair of the regional clinical hospital and the regional clinical infectious disease hospital. Yuri Derkach also named the Vitebsk ambulance hospital and the city central children's polyclinic in Vitebsk among the priority facilities. In addition to budget funds, other sources of financing are planned to be found for the implementation of plans for the re-equipment of medical institutions. -0-
