The surprise concert "Music with a Smile" will take place on April 1st at the chamber music festival in Polotsk

March 31, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. The XXIV International Festival of Ancient and Modern Chamber Music, which is currently taking place in Polotsk, will celebrate the most cheerful day of the year on April 1 with an unusual surprise concert titled "Music with a Smile." This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Lilia Yemelyanova, head of the concert department of the National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve. Classical music fans will experience an unexpected performance prepared especially for the Polotsk forum by the Minsk musical chapel "Sonorus" under the direction of Alexei Shut. The musicians love to joke, and the composers are not far behind, so the concert program includes works written with a smile. However, this does not mean that unrestrained laughter and April Fools' pranks will reign in the concert hall of St. Sophia Cathedral that evening. Light yet profound pieces, always beautifully, sometimes gracefully, and occasionally airily crafted, will make the audience smile and delve into the philosophical context of world classical works. The musicians of "Sonorus" and the festival organizers have prepared numerous surprises related to stage design and the use of dramatic elements in the compositional structure of the performance, but the details are kept secret. As Lilia Yemelyanova concisely summarized, everyone will be joking. The first part of the concert will open with a collage by Vadim Sysyuk set to music from the operetta "Die Fledermaus," which will set the appropriate mood for the listeners. The program will also feature "Five Jazz Pieces for Chamber Orchestra" by Valery Saparov, "Chapliniana" by Walter Mnatsakanov (a fantasy on music from Charlie Chaplin's films), "Escolaso" by the Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla, "Neapolitan Dance" by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, the super hit "Hello, Dolly" by Jerry Herman, the famous can-can from the operetta "Orpheus in the Underworld" by Jacques Offenbach, the polka "The Pleasure Train" by Johann Strauss Jr., "Radetzky March" by Johann Strauss Sr., and other works. The XXIV International Festival of Ancient and Modern Chamber Music is taking place in Polotsk from March 24 to April 20 with the participation of musicians from Belarus, Russia, Germany, France, Estonia, and Venezuela. -0-
