Amendments to the general plan of Polotsk will free up more than 100 hectares for the creation of tourist infrastructure
April 26, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Amendments to the general plan of Polotsk will free up more than 100 hectares for the creation of tourist infrastructure in the central part of the city. The Council of Ministers' resolution of April 15, 2011, No. 502 introduced changes to the general plan of Polotsk, the chief architect of the city, Andrei Borovik, told a BELTA correspondent.
11 sites located in residential, industrial zones and the central part of Polotsk will look different. For example, in the center, it is planned to free up sites of dilapidated private buildings for the construction of a hotel and a cafe near the Red Bridge. A multifunctional tourist complex will appear in the area of the Spaso-Evfrosinievsky Monastery. Changes in the general plan will allow for the design and construction of a pedestrian bridge across the Western Dvina and connect the Zadvine district with the central part of the city. This place was chosen by the citizens themselves during public discussions.
The updated general plan will make it possible to transform the currently existing industrial zone with production facilities in the central part of the city into a public one. It is planned to build a new bus station and a farmers' market here. This place will be the final stop and turning loop for the tram that will connect Polotsk and Novopolotsk. Thanks to the changes in the general plan, it will be possible to adjust the construction of sports facilities and residential buildings.
According to Andrei Borovik, the changes to the general plan are linked to the implementation of the Comprehensive Program for the Development of Polotsk until 2012 and will make Polotsk convenient for its residents, create conditions for the development of tourist infrastructure and attract investors. The relocation of production facilities outside the city will improve the environmental situation. -0-
