April 11, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The Church of St. Anthony of Padua in Postavy will for the first time become the center of an Easter tour on the eve of Easter according to the Gregorian calendar, organized by the Postavy Center for Tourist Services. The director of the center, Egor Shushkevich, told a BELTA correspondent about this. Tourists will be able to participate in a festive service, and according to Catholic tradition, bless painted eggs, Easter cakes, salt, and water. In addition, everyone will be able to see a valuable collection of ritual objects, including a pyx made in 1663, and a priest's liturgical vestment with gold embroidery, dating back to 1860. For the first time, Postavy region will introduce its guests to the Easter traditions of the Belarusian Poozerye. First of all, tourists will be offered to visit unique religious architectural monuments. For example, the Trinity Church in the village of Dunilovichi is the only one in Belarus that has a two-tiered stepped altar. It houses the miraculous icon of the Mother of God of Loreto. In the village of Mankovichi, there is an eclectic Holy Assumption Church built in 1855. The tour will not be limited to acquaintance with architectural monuments, because Easter is a joyful and long-awaited holiday, adorned with centuries-old folk rituals and beliefs. The organizers have prepared egg rolling and egg tapping games, celebratory songs, and an ethno-disco for the guests. Of course, there will be the traditional Easter treat – eggs and Easter cakes. The Easter cakes will be baked by the craftswomen of the folk club of national cuisine, games, and rituals "Tradition", and the eggs for treating tourists will be not only chicken but also ostrich eggs. As Egor Shushkevich noted, the religious traditions of Catholics and Orthodox Christians were taken into account when developing the tour. On Holy Saturday according to the Gregorian (April 11) and Julian (April 18) calendars, guests will be offered a Lenten menu and a visit to a church or chapel. And on the feast of the Resurrection of Christ – April 12, 19, as well as April 25, 26, tourists will get acquainted with all the Easter traditions of Postavy region. -0-
