"Autumn Colors" will gather patchwork masters from all over the region in Vitebsk
The summing up of the patchwork competition festival "Zdravnevskaya palitra - 2013" will take place today in Vitebsk, the BELTA agency was informed by the Vitebsk Regional Methodical Center of Folk Art.
The event program includes exhibition presentations, master classes, and round tables with the participation of masters from the center of crafts and national cultures of the city of Polotsk and the Polotsk folk patchwork club "Roshva"; a theatrical performance and an excursion to the Repin House-Museum with a presentation of Belarusian national cuisine clubs and a performance by folk music ensembles.
This year, the competition is named "Colors of Autumn". Creative works made in the patchwork technique have been exhibited since the beginning of September at three venues: in the exhibition halls of the Regional Museum of Local Lore, at the Vitebsk Regional Methodical Center of Folk Art, and at the Ilya Repin Museum-Estate "Zdravnevo".
The best creative works of 50 masters from the Liozno, Beshenkovichi, Braslav, Verkhnedvinsk, Glubokoe, Gorodok, Dokshitsy, Ushachi, Sharkovshchina Houses of Crafts, from the cities of Orsha and Novopolotsk, made in the traditional patchwork technique, modern art quilt, and mixed techniques (panels, decorative paintings, accessories, volumetric dolls, blankets, costume items) are presented here.
Works by masters from other regions of Belarus, as well as from Russia, Ukraine, and Latvia, are also presented in Vitebsk. Students from Vitebsk universities and colleges with art faculties (departments) also participate in the exhibition competition, which helps to establish a connection between experienced folk masters and creative youth.
The regional festival-competition of patchwork "Zdravnevskaya palitra" is held with the aim of developing folk art traditions in decorative and applied arts, enriching national traditions of patchwork with modern art trends, fostering interest in the artistic heritage of I.E. Repin, and developing and strengthening interethnic and international relations, business, cultural, and creative ties.
The organizers of the festival-competition are the Department of Ideological Work, Culture, and Youth Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee, the State Cultural Institution "Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore", the State Institution "Vitebsk Regional Methodological Center for Folk Art", and the Department of Ideological Work, Culture, and Youth Affairs of the Polotsk City Executive Committee.
