The Red Cross in Vitebsk is collecting back-to-school aid for low-income families
The "From Heart to Heart" charity event, part of the BRC's national initiative "Let's Get Children Ready for School," will take place in Vitebsk on August 20 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM on the grounds of the Holy Protection Cathedral Parish. The collection of necessary humanitarian aid from the public will begin on August 1. Anyone wishing to contribute can bring school clothing and footwear, sports and stationery supplies, books, and textbooks to the office of the city organization of the BRC or to the cathedral for subsequent distribution to large and low-income families in difficult situations.
The initiators and organizers of the campaign are the Vitebsk City Organization of the BRC and the diaconal center of the Vitebsk Diocese of the Belarusian Orthodox Church. "Every year, we collect stationery before school for this category of families, and we accept clothing from the public year-round – for children and adults. But this time, we decided to combine both initiatives and coordinate this work with the church to fully prepare children for school. There is a great need for this," the organization noted. Additional collection points for aid may be organized during school fairs for the convenience of potential donors.
